The Science Behind Bioregenerative Treatments

In our latest publication in the World Journal of Stem Cells, @photodermatology and I looked deeper at what happens within tissue following treatment with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).

We found increased cells expressing adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC) markers, increased fibroblast populations, and a tissue response consistent with regenerative remodeling. These findings correlated with ultrasound and clinical findings showing an increase in apical fat by 26% in addition to dermal thickening of 27%.

These findings may help explain the gradual, long-lasting changes we see clinically with PLLA and suggest that aesthetic treatments may go beyond what we see in the mirror to influence the health of the tissue beneath it. Healthy aging starts deeper than the surface.
